Afterwards, you have to find out about DiMA's secret so either talk to him, eavesdrop or hack the computer to find out what is going on. You will get this quest once you reach Acadia with Longfellow. Just know that if you hold off on doing this quest and complete all your other ones, then you will be fine as Cleansing the Land is the quest that is the be all or end all on what happens in Far Harbor. You can go about the quests how you like for the most part but keep an eye out for the three missables ( The Way Life Should Be, Cleansing The Land and Push Back The Fog) as they are dependent on choices you make during the quest "Cleansing the Land".
Step 2 (Play the DLC and keep an eye on the quest "Cleansing the Land") Listen to the radio station and begin the quest called "Far From Home", then make your way to Far Harbor.
This quest is early on in the game, and it will allow you to have Nick Valentine as one of your companions, which is needed to begin this. In order to be eligible to start this quest, you must have completed "Get a Clue" from the base game. If this happens, you will have to load up an older save before you started Far Harbor then try and obtain the trophies again. There still is a chance that you may have issues unlocking trophies. This means if you installed it when it first came out or awhile ago, then uninstall and reinstall it to make sure you have the latest version. To have the best experience with this DLC, make sure you have installed it recently as they have re-released this twice to fix various issues.
